Description

The front cover of the document includes an introductory text: 'This document is a lynchpin in the development of the Easington Rural District arising from pit village experience in the district, and leading to the designation of Peterlee new town, one of 14 new towns designated by the Minister of Town and Country Planning under the New Towns Act of 1946. Peterlee was designated a new town, and the Development Corporation was set up in March 1948 and the Architect Lubetkin appointed by the Minister. (ref. H. Oneil transcript).' The document and map are mounted on board.

Board is stamped on the front: 'ARTIST PROJECT PETERLEE'.
